1. What are your fees?    The customary charges for counseling range from $150 - $250 per hour.  The hourly fee for Dr. Hecker’s divorce counseling is $180.  Lower rates may apply for long term and group counseling.
  1. Will my insurance company pay?  You may be able to be reimbursed for counseling services by your health plan.  That will depend on the type of plan you have.  Upon request, statements of service - which you can submit to your insurance company - will be provided.

  2. How do I pay for the service?  Payment can be made directly with a major credit card, or in advance by personal check.
  1. What happens if I am unable to keep a scheduled appointment?  Hours are by appointment.  In order to cancel an appointment and not be charged, 12 hours notice is required. 

  2. Will I be charged for an initial call?   There is no charge for the initial call.    
  1. Can I contact Dr. Hecker between scheduled sessions?  Yes.  Accessibility to Dr. Hecker is an important feature of her service to you.

  2. How long will the process of divorce counseling take?  "The process is designed to be intensive and to provide speedy recovery. However, people heal and recover at different rates. Therefore, treatment time may vary from several weeks to several years.

  3. Is it possible to have face-to-face counseling?  Yes.  However, most clients find the results and advantages of teletherapy to equal or exceed face-to-face counseling.  (Please click here for more information.)
  1. Do you provide other services?  In addition to divorce counseling, Dr. Hecker has extensive clinical experience in the following areas:

    • aging and life transitions
